Meet Rosaelva Lomeli
Rosaelva Lomeli is a full-time science teacher and has served on the Río Hondo Community College District Board of Trustees for the past eight years, now as the Board's President. The daughter of hardworking immigrant parents, she has called Whittier home since 2012, where she and her extended family remain rooted in the community she serves. Her record speaks for itself, and her focus remains the same: fiscal responsibility, student success, workforce education, and strong pathways to a four-year degree.
A Record Built On Student Success
As a trustee, Rosaelva has turned her priorities into results Río Hondo families can see:
Earned Río Hondo College a bond rating upgrade to Aa1 from Moody's through disciplined budgeting and strong reserves.
Supported passage of Measure RH, funding new Science and Math facilities and the college's first student housing project.
Helped launch the High Road Training Partnership, connecting students directly to local careers.
A consistent advocate for students' basic needs since taking office.

Rosaelva's Issues

Río Hondo College students deserve a trustee who shows up for them — in the classroom and in the boardroom. Rosaelva Lomeli has spent 29 years teaching students to believe in their own potential, and eight years turning that belief into real opportunity at Río Hondo College: stronger finances, new facilities, student housing, and a direct path from classroom to career.
There's more work to do, and Rosaelva isn't finished. Join her campaign today.
